Background

    In May 2016, RSSB launched a £500,000 call for research for feasibility studies exploring novel ideas and innovative solutions to help the rail industry reduce dwell time, cater for increasing capacity and maintain or reduce safety risk at the PTI.

    The call sought ideas in response to two challenges:

    1. Influencing and improving passenger behaviour at the PTI
    2. Future PTI design for faster and safer boarding and alighting
